Green and Growing

Image
I love propagating plants, it just seems magical that i can make something alive from a dried up little stone like thing (seed). This is my laboratory, making seedling pots for the little plants.  I use old newspaper and roll it around a calking tube and fold the bottom under tamp it and POOF a pot! Here are my little pots below all filled with soil.  Just add water. Below are my little seedling begging for a new home with more space to stretch. Moving day below, I'm preparing to move them in.  Here they are all toasty cozy with their own private rooms to stretch out.  Wish I had more people to give them to. I'll have to take them to the clubhouse to give away, I'd hate the little babies to not have a home. Isn't it just awesome how you can just make life out of seemingly nothing? Yup, I'm a magician !  Alicenoneland

A Theme Dinner.

Image
I had so much fun! A theme dinner with friends over, Charlie did not even know the theme.   KALE! Each dish had Kale in it, doesn't seem possible, but that's the miracle of Pintrest. And, I must add a LOT of Kale in each recipe.   I got the idea because I have just finished planting about 30 kale seedlings in our raised bed and got to thinking, I can only eat so many kale smoothies. Ta Da, why not look up kale recipes, and then invite a couple we know over, (that also eat kale) for a surprise dinner. They are moving from one home in the park to another, and would probably like a "just come for dinner" invite, no need to bring a dish. Above is the main course but i did not picture it all together, its also Paleo; Kale,  A  Kale sweet potato and chicken recipe for the entree.  A bread for the side, not really necessary but it added fullness to the meal, Kale and Feta bread. (melt in your mouth Yummy!) Believe...

Keeping On...

Image
Isn't this the cutest little coaster? A little sister to the bigger chair pad. I think it is adorable. I finally get to use up the sock material that I have thinking I was going to knit socks with it NOT! The size of the yarn is wayyyy to tiny, I would be blind by the time i got to the heel. Time to start another one, gotta have a pair. Ok, Yes i am finally getting going on the December crochet challenge. This pattern is called "Lazy waves" I love it but it is a counting devil only because i have to keep track of which stitch I'm doing or should be doing. I do enjoy how it is coming out very interesting, just hope my colors aren't too much.  Keep your eye on the calender! These days are flying by and Christmas is around the corner, can't wait, and i don't even know why. Just a joyful time i guess. Alicenoneland

A Melting Pot

Image
Wow! check out our cool Yucca plant it is blooming. Charlie looked it up last night and said the name if it is a Mohave Yucca. Pretty good detective work if you ask me because they all seem to kinda look alike. This plant is TALL and the stalk is huge. I think it should be called the T-pin yucca because the little blooms (if you can call them that) look just like T-pins, bellow is a picture of me holding a T-pin that I found in my sewing basket.   If you can zoom in, you can see the shape of each bloom looks just like the T-pin.  Also, Charlie read that the stalk is sometimes used to make the didgeridoo a native Australian musical instrument.  The plant is also native to southern California.  So not only is a Florida retirement community a melting pot of people but of plants also evidently. Let there be Light.

Image
Charlie is the bomb! Here is the old light that we have had since we bought the house four years ago. You operated the light with a dimmer switch by the side door.  It was a fine light but did not really give off much light and in the evening when you were doing projects you felt like you were in a dark spy basement up to no good.   He removed the old chandelier style, and moved the actual power source in the ceiling over so the new light would be more centered.   Below you can see the new light. It is a LED low profile model, SO much brighter than the former light and less noticeable. I'm all about minimal design and this really fills the bill. I'm so pleased at how bright this light is and it has the same dimmer connected to it, so if you would like less light you can adjust it.  Ta Da !!!  Let the light shine in !🌞 Alicenoneland

Little Friend.

Image
Check out this little guy. He was sitting on the pot then jumped to the plant.  I have never seen one so close this is a little baby one.  These frogs do get a little bigger, I Don't think they make any noise but not really sure. I love the look of him! such a nice green color.  When I was young I loved the color green, when I played board games I always wanted to be the green piece.  I always wanted a green motorcycle too, never happened and now I consider myself to old for a motorcycle ( but i do have my license).  Its funny I never wanted to wear green? I had a green room in one of my homes, I did like that.  I'll have to ponder on the color green, think back and see what else I had in green. Yes, the color green is lovely.  What is you favorite color from childhood, I think we have all had them.   Alicenoneland
