A little Learning for me.



A few weekends ago Charlie and I visited the Marine Science Center not far from us, it has been on our to-do list since we moved here. I thought it was expensive to visit and my cheep-ie-ness kept us from going. 


Surprise! It was only about $4.50 to go in, a nominal fee to supplement the care of the animals housed and rehabilitate in the facility. 
Look what a sweet statue greeted us.


Here we are, getting ready to enter.


Charlie enjoyed the petting tank. They had a bunch of sting rays swimming around in there, very kid friendly.



We enjoyed looking at the "reef in the works" aquarium. This display reminded us of our vacation to the keys and the scuba adventures we had. 


Here is the overlook into the "turtle hospital" area. They take care of a half dozen or more sick or wounded sea turtles. Its a really nice friendly facility, with explanations of the wounds or illnesses each turtle has.


Below is my all time favorite creature, the Sea Horse! 
The center works on breeding their own horses here and it is so interesting. I think I could watch Sea Horses float around all day, such peaceful and content creatures. They are very evolved you know, the fathers take care of there babies the mom only gives birth to them.



We took a nature walk around the park after the ocean area. They had nice paths and an observation area to overlook the complex. 
They had a bird rehabilitation section also, very educational. 


Well I can honestly say I was surprised and sorry I had not visited sooner, I'm sure some of our guests would have enjoyed seeing the center and learning the information. 

So, I'll leave you with this thought. If there is a place you have not gone because you "thought" it was expensive, at least call and get the FACTS! 
I wasted 4 years because I was a "know-it-all."
Guess I don't know everything, I'm learning I know LESS than I think. 😉

Yup! You guessed it the cat place, where you can drink your drinks, munch your snacks and pet cats the whole time, or if your like me you sit and watch the cats the whole time.  Tori was of course in her glory, petting a smooching cats everywhere.  Each of the cats have a pink or blue ribbon on them identifying them as male or female and with their name so you can look them up on a paper, that is on a table in the room, so you can tell how old they are.  I did find it very interesting watching the different cats interact with each other and us. They have little treats you can buy to entice them to come to you to be petted.  Tori was like this practically the whole time, this is her "happy place," amongst cats. Goodness she can go on and on about the virtues of each cat and she only met them once. This cat below is my kind of cat, wonderful to be seen but not touched. I love the trailing days of fall, the light is different and the air feels just right. It always amazes me how the sun casts such a different kind of lighting onto the trees and other green thing this time of year almost like a spotlight but not harsh or hot.  I had a wonderful crop of raspberries just enough for a couple handfuls each day they were fun to watch progressing over the summer. At one point I had a scare. Some of the raspberry bushes got some kind of grub egg in them, I forget the name now but it lays an egg somehow that causes the top 3 inches or so to wilt. I googled it and got directions on how the save the plant and I think  I caught it in time. PHEW  I The garden as a whole is wonderful, a wild but productive place.  We have this one pretty maple tree in our backyard but unfortunately it may go next year we need the space to plant some fruit trees. I hate to cut trees but they grow like mad here.  I’ll leave you with my b

This is the last post of the winter season, hope to see you in the fall. Everything is wrapped up here in Florida so we are ready t “migrate” north for the summer.  I’ve enjoyed chatting with you and will miss our times together.  So long for now.
