Cold is Relative; Not like as in Aunts and Uncles.
Its so cold here. Don't hate me. We drove 21 hrs to NOT be cold in the winter and here we are dragging our plants in the house so they don't freeze during the night. We covered what we could last night and it went down to 30 degrees "seriously?"
You can see the damage in the photos below that it did to some of the plants we could not cover. But, tonight will be a KILLER. We are expected to get into the mid 20s, that's a hard frost down here. I would not want to be an orange farmer, tonight there will be alot of cussing and tears for sure.
The first plant I brought in was my tomato plant. I started this tomato plant from seeds! I haven't done that in probably 20 yrs. Its a scraggly looking thing but pretty sturdy, not like the spindly legged things I used to grow from seed, that you had to plant a foot in the ground to make them look presentable. My "Christmas" amaryllis is chugging along hopefully it will bloom before we head north, (in May)
Our sun room is starting to look like the local garden center, minus that auto watering system, rats, I could use that.
I suppose your all boo hoo and crying tears for me, NOT!!
I hear you loud and clear, "NO TEARS FOR ALICE!!!"
I guess I'll lug my plants in, complain that I have to throw on a sweater and a pair of closed toe shoes for a few days, and then I'll, "Thank My Lucky Stars!" I'm not up north with you guys in the northeastern US, experiencing your Cyclone snow storm and constant sub zero temps!
So, it just depends where you are and what you are used to. As for me I drove 21 hrs to "BE USED TO" sunny skies and 80 degrees, and can't want till next week when it comes back!
